When Steve and Diana were first married there was a Thrifty Drug Store in walking distance from their tiny apartment. On warm summer evenings they would walk there and get ice cream cones for 5 cents per scoop (yeah it was a while ago) and so for 20 cents they could each have a double scoop. Diana’s was usually pistachio and whatever else looked pretty. This blend reminds me of that soft pistachio ice cream with yummy colorful sprinkles.
Blend featured in Rhyme Times #8. Click for the large picture showing my handspun -- and the swatch with Ode To Denim, for my weaving project.
This blend is merino cross wool with hand-dyed Tencel and hand-dyed silk noil. It’s as smooth and soft as the finest ice cream but a lot warmer!
I’ve been spinning this up into a laceweight 2-ply to put on my loom. I’m thinking it will make a very nice lap blanket to keep Grandma Jo warm, and remind her of warm summer ice creams too.
Price per 4 oz. packet of roving with washing tips and small handspun sample.
