E-Book: Self-Striping Socks and the Mitts of Experience

$6.00

Would you like to spin a sock yarn that will knit like a cable, but only be two plies? Do you like stripes? This 7-page e-booklet contains the instructions to spin self-striping faux-cable sock yarn, and fun fingerless mitts you you can knit from the yarn you'll spin up. I like to call them the Mitts of Experience -- as they will contain the knowledge the fiber gave you as it turned into yarn!

This e-book (in handout form) got rave reviews at its debut at the Whidbey Spin-In, where over 100 people test-spun it during the spin-in workshop. Be sure to watch for additional e-booklet workshops as the year progresses!

This e-booklet on spinning sock yarn discusses spinning and plying methods, joins, wheel tuning and spindle selection, and the design of stripes and structure for this faux-cable yarn. It is packed with color pictures and helpful measuring tools. If you think you can't control the thickness of your yarn -- think again! With a few simple wheel-tuning tips, you'll be spinning different thicknesses as easily as your default singles. This e-booklet is geared to spinners who have learned to spin and ply, and are looking for new techniques to add to their spinning toolkit.

Choose "email attachment" as your receiving option, and I will email you the PDF file as soon as I process your order -- typically a few hours, but maybe a day if I'm called away.

Yes, prices on the e-tutorials have gone up. I will leave it discounted to $4 until St. Patrick's Day 2011. If you use PatternFish, you will also find this PDF there at the new price by St.Patrick's Day.

The booklet is 7 pages, color, scaled for printing and reading with Adobe Reader version 8 or newer. The PDF file is 629K in size.

Your feedback on the format and content of the booklet is always welcome. I strive to always improve my writing and presentation.

In addition to spinning techniques, knitting instructions are given for mitts from the yarn you produce -- no matter if it's thicker than sock yarn, or not, you can knit your own "mitts of experience" from the first 2 ounces you spin with this method.

Looking for an instructor? I would be happy to teach this workshop at your fiber event, guild workshop, or privately. Contact me to arrange.

Don't print Acrobat or "do" online books? A print version is available by itself or as a kit with 2 ounces of fiber to use in your own at-home workshop.
